Extensive consultation with each client allows for the creation of a design brief that captures not only the significant features, but also considers the tiny details that making living in a home a pleasure. This brief is developed into a concept design, then final drawings and documentation.

The building design process can be varied or in most cases quite straight forward. The following step by step summary enables a clearer understanding of this process.

  1. Location

    Ensure the design capitalises on the features of the site and is sympathetic to its surroundings you are asked about your site and the features that attracted you to it.

  2. Ideas & Inspirations

    Form, functionality and finances are considered to create a brief of needs and wants, bring along sketches, photos, a wish list and ideas that inspire you.

  3. Design Framework

    db design then prepare initial sketches and concepts and present these for your feedback.

  4. Preliminary Design

    Upon client approval of the design framework, preliminary drawings are developed, including site layout, floor plans, elevations and preliminary material selection.

  5. Consultants & Permits

    At this point specialist consultants can be incorporated and relevant permits obtained.

  6. Working Drawings

    Once all the elements have been compiled and your are happy with the design detailed working drawings and documentation are prepared.

  7. Costing and Builder Selection

    The working drawings are tendered to a select panel of local builders who are experienced in the scale and style of construction and have a proven record of reliability and quality.

  8. Construction

    Additional services during the construction phase can be introduced, including site inspections to ensure the finished project remains true to its design intent.
